Explanation:
The concept of the new museum for the Korean video artist Nam June Paik consists of an exciting dialogue between exhibition and open spaces, as well as building volumes and landscape. The complex is an integral element of a sophisticated landscape concept consisting of a contention of art and nature.
Therefore, different levels, plateaus, terraces and building elements are integrated into the existing topography of the site to contrast to the untouched open area. This creates an interacting dialogue of art and landscape which offers the visitors attractive view connections between in and outside, transparent and closed building parts and the sceneries.
Excerpt from the Jury Report:
This concept responded to the location. Its intimate spaces were best suited to particular aspects of Paik’s art.
