This is the flagship store in Beijing designed by CAA Architects for MQ Studio, an cutting-edge fashion brand. In the CBD of World Trade Center where trendy men and women gather in Beijing, the unique space not only meets its functions, but also becomes an eye-catching public art in rows of commercial stores.
A rose golden ceiling rises from the clouds, bringing a surreal visual experience to passers-by, attracting you to enter and enjoy the transformation like a dream. Stepping into it, the golden river rises from the clouds, flows slowly to the zenith, and flows down to the ground from somewhere. The clouds and mist on the facade subtly become the medium from two-dimensional space to three-dimensional space, as if time and space were reversed here, and a surreal space was born.
The design focuses on the special top structure, which flows in the sky like a river. The unique shape is realized through parametric design to simulate the abstract form of water flow. Sometimes it has the function of flowing slowly to the ground like a waterfall, and the mirror with function is born from this.
The ceiling at the top is made of stainless steel with high reflectivity. In order to present the glittering visual effect of water waves, CAA made the light more mild refracted by the rose golden mirror through repeated research and verification of material and reflection. The floor lights surrounding the facade wash the light from bottom to top, making the whole space feel like being in a cloud.
Located in the bustling commercial core area, this golden river flowing on clouds is a surreal and secret environment created by CAA, adding a unique future urban mark to this bustling area.
